Property Rewire
Old or faulty wiring is one of the most common causes of house fires – and one of the most avoidable. Transform Living carries out full and partial property rewires across Northern Ireland, bringing your electrics up to current safety standards with minimal disruption and full certification. And because we’re a complete electrical team, we handle everything around the rewire too – from fuseboards to testing and everyday repairs.

Signs your property
needs rewiring
- Fuses that blow or breakers that trip frequently
- An old fuse box with rewireable fuses rather than modern breakers
- Fabric-covered, rubber or old-style cabling
- Sockets that are scorched, warm or too few for how you live
- A property that hasn’t been rewired in 25+ years
Full rewire or partial rewire?
Not every home needs stripping back completely. A full rewire replaces all cabling, sockets, switches and the consumer unit — best for older properties or major renovations. A partial rewire updates specific circuits or areas. After inspecting your installation, we recommend the option that’s genuinely right for your home, not the biggest job we can sell.
Complete electrical services
A rewire is often just part of the picture. As certified electricians, we also handle:
- Fuseboard (consumer unit) upgrades
- Additional sockets, lighting and circuits
- Electrical testing, inspection and certification (EICR)
- Fault finding and repairs
- EV chargers — see our dedicated EV Charger Installation page
Done to standard, certified and signed off
Every rewire is carried out to the BS 7671 wiring regulations and notified under Part P building regulations for electrical work). You receive full certification on completion — proof the installation is safe, which matters for insurance and when you come to sell.
The ideal time to rewire
Rewiring means lifting floors and chasing walls, so it’s far less disruptive when done alongside other work. If you’re planning a Refurbishment or Garage Conversion, combining the rewire with the build saves both money and mess. It’s also the perfect moment to add EV charging while the electrics are open.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a full property rewire take?
A typical three-bedroom home takes around 5–10 days depending on size and access. We give you a clear timeline up front and work to keep disruption to a minimum.
Do I have to move out during a rewire?
Not usually — most clients stay put, though it helps to clear access to walls and floors. For larger properties or full renovations, we’ll discuss the best approach with you.
Do I need an electrical certificate to sell or rent my home?
For rented properties an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is generally required, and buyers increasingly ask for one too. We carry out testing and issue the certificate.
How much does rewiring cost?
Cost depends on property size, age and whether it’s a full or partial rewire, so we always quote after inspecting the installation. You’ll get a fixed, transparent price with no surprises.
